David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet

“This is not about saving our planet, it's about saving ourselves. The truth is, with our without us, the natural world will rebuild.” ——David Attenborough

The narrator of the documentary is British naturalist Sir David Attenborough, who explored every continent on Earth during his 94 years of life. Through his perspective, he reviews the devastating changes he has seen on this planet. Problems of all kinds, including ecological and environmental, due to human activity, past wars, and the technological evolution of capital, are irreversible. Pollution of the oceans, devastation of biodiversity, increasing atmospheric pollution, growing global warming, etc. are all documented through real-life footage. Witnessing such a severe ecological crisis, Attenborough is full of pessimism when looking at the present. Before the film ends, he recalls how nature has recreated the place after humans were excluded.

We in urban life, on the other hand, have a hard time perceiving the gravity of this crisis. The idea of everyone waking up and working together to protect our home is also his outlook at the end of the film.
